Hi, I’m Clay.

As a military veteran, I have been fortunate to serve my country, travel the world, and meet many interesting people. My time in the military, specifically my experience flying the E/A-18G and encountering augmented reality, sparked my interest in bringing the benefits of AR and VR to other fields. I believe that technology will continue to play an increasingly important role in our lives, and I am committed to finding ways to harness the power of human-machine collaboration for the benefit of society.
In the past eight years, I’ve worked in various Navy labs to develop AR and VR applications that solve problems for Sailors and Marines. This work has earned multiple innovation awards and has allowed me to help shape strategic policy for the Navy. A special thank you goes out to PMA-257 (Harrier Program), LtCol George Roberts in particular (a Maintainer’s maintainer), who believed enough in the research to fund these bleeding edge concepts when there wasn’t a formal requirement or immediate benefit for the AV-8B Harrier. I would also be remiss not to thank CDR Chris Angelopoulos for our long conversations and his insights into different aspects of AR, maintenance processes, and where problems existed. I want to bring the concepts and technologies developed through research that works to address those issues to market in businesses and everyday life.
With this drive, I founded Humana Machina (Latin for human-machine) to explore and develop new ways that human-machine teaming can positively impact society and find scalable ways to bring those ideas to fruition. I am excited to work with your company and help you transition into the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
